Advice for charities and other trusts
IFG Financial Services provides investment advice to trustees and acts as nominated adviser for trusts and charitable companies. Our advisers are familiar with trust law relating to investments and provide advice to trustees and directors.
Personal injury and clinical negligence settlements
IFG provides individual, high quality advice and ongoing management of investment portfolios on behalf of personal injury and clinical negligence clients. Requiring a higher degree of specialisation than conventional portfolio management, it is an area in which we have considerable experience and IFG is one of the few court-approved investment advisers for Patients of the Court of Protection outside of the two panel stockbrokers.
Personal injury or clinical negligence settlements are awarded as a result of life-changing circumstances. It's vital therefore that such awards are made to work hard for these clients. Achieving the best possible return with the lowest level of risk over the long term is naturally a key objective. The most important factor is to have an in-depth understanding of the client's individual circumstances and the ability to take an all-round view of what can sometimes be highly specialised injury needs.
As part of an integrated strategy, our advisers address questions such as:
- What is the nature of the injury and the consequent income required to meet care needs?
- How should the award be best structured to maximise its benefits?
- What role should specialised products such as Periodical Payments or Special Needs Trusts play as part of the settlement?
- If Trustee or Receivership issues are involved, what support and guidance can we offer?
- What is the level of investment risk the client is comfortable with?
- What is the time horizon?
- What is the tax position?
